1968

The Foundation Years (1968 – 1975)

Bal Niketan Model Sr. Sec. School was established in 1968 with a strong vision to provide accessible and value-based education to the community. The founders believed that true education shapes not only the intellect but also the character of a child. With limited infrastructure but unlimited determination, the school began its journey with a small number of classrooms and a dedicated team of teachers who were deeply committed to nurturing young minds.
During the initial years, the school focused on building strong academic foundations and discipline. Emphasis was placed on moral values, respect for elders, and cultural awareness. These early principles became the pillars upon which the institution continues to stand today.

1976

Expansion and Community Trust (1976 – 1985)

1977

Expansion and Community Trust (1977 – 1985)

As the school steadily earned the trust of parents and the community, student enrollment increased significantly. To accommodate this growth, new classrooms were constructed and additional facilities were introduced. The teaching staff expanded, bringing in qualified and passionate educators who contributed to raising academic standards.
During this phase, the school introduced structured co-curricular activities such as sports competitions, cultural celebrations, debates, and art programs. The aim was to ensure that students received balanced development alongside academic learning.

1986

Strengthening Academic Excellence (1986 – 1995)

By the late 1980s and early 1990s, Bal Niketan Model School had firmly established itself as a respected educational institution in the region. The curriculum was strengthened, teaching methods were refined, and greater focus was placed on preparing students for board examinations with excellence.
Laboratories for science subjects were introduced or upgraded, and the school library was expanded with a rich collection of academic and reference books. Students began achieving outstanding results in board examinations, bringing recognition and pride to the institution.

1996

Transition to Senior Secondary Level (1996 – 2005)

This period marked a major milestone in the school’s journey. Recognizing the need to provide higher education opportunities locally, the institution expanded to the Senior Secondary level. Streams such as Science, Commerce, and Arts were introduced to offer diverse career pathways for students.
Infrastructure development accelerated, including improved classrooms, better laboratory facilities, and enhanced sports infrastructure. The school began focusing not only on academic results but also on career counseling and future planning for students.

2006

Modernization and Technological Integration (2006 – 2015)

With the rapid advancement of technology in education, Bal Niketan Model Sr. Sec. School embraced modernization. Computer education became an integral part of the curriculum, and digital tools were gradually introduced into classrooms to enhance learning experiences.

Principal's Message

The aim of Education is to impart all-round training to the child who should become an asset to the nation.
Keeping in view such aim, the school came into being in 1968 at Chandigarh. The constant devotion of the teachers and co-operation of the parents brought the school to repute.
The school plays an important role in laying a sound foundation for the growth of a child into a confident and responsible individual. With the advent of media and fast changing technological scenario, the importance of education has become paramount.
There is no activity more self-rewarding than a service to a child. Education is a continuous and a creative process. There should be delicate, if not prefect, balance between co-curricular and extra curricular activities. In our school, it is our sincerest endeavour to spot the talent in each child and nurture. It is our honest belief that every child has a gift. A child's failure is the failure of the system itself and we are equally responsible for it.

1. Annual Sports Day

The Annual Sports Day was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and vibrant energy on the school grounds. The event began with a ceremonial march past by students of all houses, followed by the lighting of the torch symbolizing sportsmanship and unity. Various track and field events such as 100m, 200m, relay races, long jump, shot put, and team games were conducted. Students displayed exceptional determination, discipline, and team spirit.
